NEW LISTING: 1 duck box available for immediate occupancy

I stole this one straight from my writing blog. I thought you all would get a kick out of it. National Poetry Writing Month is almost over, and I'm secretly glad because it has pulled me away from this blog more than I would have liked. However, come May, new time challenges will present themselves as I start taking classes to become an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN for short). In case you're wondering what it means to be an OCVN, here is an explanation from their website:
An Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist is an individual with a passion for the natural world who wishes to attend training and use his or her knowledge by giving back to the community through volunteer service. The program has three components: training, volunteer service hours, and advanced education.
I hope to report on the experience as classes progress.

Speaking of progress, the baby Phoebes are getting stronger every day.  I'm pretty sure I've seen 4 little heads/beaks in there.  I'll try to get some videos posted soon.  Also, I watched a Tree Swallow pair contemplating moving into one of the nest boxes today.  They inspired that bit of writing above.

Oh, and Flora-Quest is next weekend!!!!  I'll get to spend an entire day (at least) photographing flowers.  I cannot wait!

Take care, everyone!

I'll post your ad in my field. I think I'm gaining Tree Swallows at the rate of one pair per day and all my boxes are full.

Karen, Monika - Thank you.

Steve - We have one empty songbird box and an empty duck box. So please, send your birds right on over!

Ha ha, nice one! We (John) put up more nest boxes this spring and I'm hoping they fill up.
Your previous post rung a bell with me...I just got back from three days away and our woods filled in so much in that short time--wow. Now, with the soft rain, I can literally see the grasses growing!

My goodness Heather, it sounds better than the one I'm living in but don't tell 'A' ...can I get a transfer?
Best wishes on the Volunteering Course...sounds very interesting. FAB.

Meg - Maybe there will be some nests in progress in those boxes when we come to visit you! Regarding the rain, it certainly is making a huge difference. My flowers have been doing only so-so, and it just dawned on me today that they needed a really good dose of RAIN!

Frank - You're so silly! Shhhhh, I won't tell "A" about your request for a transfer. Thanks for the well wishes - I'm really looking forward to the classes.

That's a good ad Heather. I hope you attract lots of tenants this spring and summer! I have 4 eggs in a bluebird box and tree swallows looking at houses and gourds.
Good luck with your Master Naturalist course.....I'm one-third of the way thru mine already and enjoying it very much.

Heather, the videos are wonderful. How did you get them? (You probably told us in an entry I missed.)

Ruthie - You have bluebird eggs already? I would think it would still be too cold there for that. I hope they do well! I'm looking forward to the volunteer naturalist program so much!

BTG - Thanks. We have a motion-activated camera mounted on the side of our house. I showed the set-up last year, but your question reminds me that I should show it again.
