1. I loved school as a kid, and I was fortunate to have many great teachers in my life, many whom I loved dearly. I was valedictorian of my class in high school. College, however, was more difficult. As I progress further in life, I realize that it wasn't necessarily school that I loved, but the learning that came with it. That sticks with me to this day, and will always be a huge part of my life.
2. I have a wicked sense of smell. This is especially handy in the kitchen, where I can tell when the cookies are done before the timer goes off!
3. I started college as a journalism major, but graduated with a degree in French. I studied and worked in France for 5 months during my junior year in college, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Sadly, my fluency in the language has all but vanished due to lack of use. I still feel a deep connection to the country, though, and will someday go back to visit.
4. I am a horrible liar. I wear all my emotion on my face and my heart on my sleeve, two things which make it hard to tell a convincing lie.
5. I met my husband at work. My parents also met at their place of employment. Hmmmmm....!
6. I played trumpet in middle school and high school. I have also dabbled with guitar and piano, but I don't want to commit the time to practicing either right now. Blogging and photography take up most of my spare time!
7. I love puzzles - Jigsaw puzzles, number puzzles (sudoku, anyone?), word puzzles... one of my long-standing traditions is to get a new puzzle book of some sort right before going on vacation.
BONUS FACT: I am quite an introvert, so the fact that I do this blogging thing is still a bit of an mystery to me!!
P.S. I anticipate making layout changes to HOTH within the next few weeks. It's time to try a different template, something that has a "stretch" option so I can have a bit more room for my photos. Just warnin' ya.

Heather, I enjoyed reading this. It's good to know you better....valedictorian!
I also met my husband on the job - my first job back in 1973. And, my daughter has a face like yours :o)
Mary
Oh, the Spiderwort was planted. Then I scattered wildflowers seeds...see? I'm no gardener :o)
Your portraits are sweet.
Hi Mary, nice to hear from you. It was kind of nice to share things about myself that wouldn't otherwise come up.
...congratulations, Heather! I enjoyed reading them too, and I like those photos of you!
Congratulations on your award Heather. I got one too, but haven't yet gotten around to passing it on or posting 7 things.
(I was surprised to read at the end that you consider yourself an introvert -- that doesn't come across at all in your blog!)
Heather I enjoyed reading about you...nice. I can relate though to the introvert part..I'm the same. I think with blogging it's just you and the computer even though people can veiw your stuff it's not the same as meeting them. Do you know what I mean? I definately prefere my own time..not a socialite
Fun photos and nice to know a little bit more about the person behind them. Learning keeps you young!
You must let me know how the template change goes. I would love to do that but so far haven't braved the risk.
Kelly - Thanks on all counts!
Ruthie - Congratulations to you! I look forward to reading your 7 things. I think the fact that I know I'm addressing folks who share similar interests makes it easier for me to share things and thus not seem like the "innie" that I am.
Crista - Yes, I know exactly what you mean. You get to know people and share some of yourself, but in some kind of weird anonymous way. Plus, you have complete control over what you say, how much to reveal and not to, etc...
Vickie - I will let you know about the template changes for sure. I'm a little nervous about it myself, but we'll see how it goes. I must be sure to save the code for the old template, just in case I don't like the new one!
