Saturday in the kitchen

My blogging friend Michele (aka The Northwest Nature Nut) has been taunting me with images of homemade English muffins off and on for the last year or so (she recently posted photos of muffins topped with homemade marmalade that made me drool). Every time I would see them I'd think to myself "I have got to try making my own English muffins!" Well, yesterday was the day. Thanks for the inspiration, Michele. They turned out wonderfully!

Mmmm... especially delicious topped with some of the blackberry jam that we made this past summer. Yum!

Follow this link if you'd like to see the recipe I used. It was super easy.

Michele is good that way. I have tasted that marmalade and those muffins and they are yummy! I'm sure yours will be perfect, too.

Laura - Hi there! So good to hear from you! I have no doubt that the stuff that comes out of Michele's kitchen is delish. I'll think of you both when I eat my next muffin. Take care!

YUM!!!! I'll have to check the recipe out... We've had sun for the past few days. Thank goodness!!!

Kelly - It's a really good recipe in my opinion, and of course you can always adjust the sodium content to your needs. The recipe made 20 muffins for me, each with about 115 mg sodium. Sun's out here, too - was a beautiful day yesterday, promises to be so again today!

Oh, my goodness. Those look fantastic! Well, in fact they look perfect. I'm sure mine would look a lot lumpier than that as I'm not so good with the dough. Bravo, sister, for getting busy with the muffins! I'll try the recipe. 115 grams of sodium is very do-able. ; )

I didn't know you could make english muffins! They surely do look good! I've already saved that recipe in a safe place. Thanks for sharing it!

Those look delicious. For some reason, I'm now hungry for English muffins. Thank you for not showing a shot of a split muffin covered in jam. That would have been too much to bear. I've got to go see what's in the kitchen. Toast now seems so inadequate.

Beauties! I love that they have more whole wheat than white flour... and low sugar... and sesame and poppy seeds! Mouth-watering series of photos - I'll try these one day!

Meg - Of course I have my KitchenAid stand mixer to thank for whipping up that dough... BUT, it is a very manageable, forgiving dough, and it rolls out beautifully. I have faith in you!

Karen - As I've already mentioned... SO easy! Let me know when you try out the recipe!

Michele - Thank YOU for the inspiration. Yes, so easy and so good. No more Thomas's muffins in our house!

Steve - Don't think you could handle a shot of muffin with jam, eh? Hmmm... And toast is a fine morning staple, don't knock it just because my muffins look so yummy!

Jain - Yes, I feel pretty good about the recipe, ingredient-wise. I left out the sesame and poppy seeds myself, but I'm sure they are great with those included.

I am so hungry right now - yummy! These photos look like they should be in a cookbook. And blackberry jam is the best! I made some this past summer too - I have 3 precious jars left!

Shelley - I think I hear your stomach growling from here! We still have quite a few jars of last summer's jam to go through - I guess we better get to it!

Andy - They are indeed delicious!
