Snow Dog

Our dog Emmett is a Husky mix, so hanging out in the snow is second nature to him. He politely accepted my offer to snap some pictures of him while he enjoyed laying in the snow this weekend.

Isn't he so handsome?

He's an outside dog 99.9% of the time, but he got himself good and wet this weekend, and seeing how the temperature isn't going to get above freezing in the next few days, we thought he'd like to have the icicles thawed off of his fur at some point. So, he's sitting at my feet right now, curled up in front of the wood stove. After several hours inside, he's almost dry. But all this heat... it's making him sleepy. Me too, dude. Bed time!

I love Emmet! I'm so glad I got to meet him in person this summer. I imagine he's in heaven when the snow falls. He looks like he loves it! Rick just told me and additional 6-7 inches of snow is on the way tomorrow night! Yeah! Stay warm...

Emmet is so beautiful! He looks right at home sitting in the snow. My family had two Huskies many years ago, and I've felt drawn to Huskies ever since. As always, your photos are lovely. Enjoy the snow!

Emmet is certainly handsome. He looks as though he's loving his photo session in the snow. I'll bet he's a wonderful companion. Sometimes I wish my lifestyle would suppport owning a pet, a dog specifically. Especially after seeing your photo of Emmet! But I'd take a cat, too!

Kelly - He does seem pretty happy when there's snow on the ground. I love to watch him romp around in it. We are predicted to get anywhere from 4-8 more inches with this next storm.

Erica - It's always hard for me to understand that they aren't cold when they lie in the snow like that, but that's what all that fur is for!

KS - Thanks for your comments and the visit! I'm allergic to dogs, so unfortunately I have to keep my contact with him fairly limited, but he's a very sweet and loving dog who likes very much to hang out with us.

Karen - Thanks, we think he's pretty gorgeous, too!

He's such a beautiful dog Heather! I bet he just loves being out there in the snow. We haven't got much snow here in my area. That new storm coming on the East coast might miss us again. I kind of wish we'd get at least a few inches to make everything white and pretty again..Ha! Ha!

That is an awesome animal! A true snow-beast, no doubt. I love dogs like that - real dogs! :-)

Oh, he's a big furry love! I wish that I could feel what it is like, for a day, to have a coat of fur, or even a bunch of feathers for protection. It is hard to get out of our own skin--literally--and imagine how it could feel GOOD to lie in the snow (or swim through icy water).
I'm heading to town for a few supplies before our driveway fills back up with snow : )

Beautiful pup. It always brings a smile to my face to see how much dogs love the cold.

Ginny - I'll gladly send you some of our snow!

Phyllis - Thank you!

Jim - Thanks, we think he is awesome, too. I'm not so sure about the beast part, though. ;)

Meg - "Big furry love" - I like that! It's very fitting for him.

James - Thanks. How do your greyhounds feel about the snow? I'm sure they need coats in the winter.
