I love these photos Heather! The third one down from the top is my favorite. That one shot really does look like bacon....
I first started noticing fungi last fall, and while there isn't nearly as much fungal growth in the spring, it has been cool to see completely different species out in the last few months.
Hi Monika - Thanks for your input. It's interesting which photo you named as your favorite, b/c I'm not particularly fond of that one. Always good to know which shots appeal to others.
Fungus is one of those things you don't necessarily notice unless you happen to have your nose to the ground (or in a log)... unless it happens to be huge. We sometimes get big puffball mushrooms in our front yard in the summer. Will have to take photos if they appear this year!
Mushrooms are just so cool: big, tiny, funky shapes, funky colors. The fact that some can kill you probably also adds to the mystique. We went hiking in Glacier NP one fall and came across some amazing purple ones.
Thanks for reminding me about mushrooms. I've been meaning to do a painting of some. Now where did I put that roll of film...

Gabrielle - Yep, they are very cool. Wish I knew a mushroom "whisperer" who could walk in the woods with me and tell me which ones are safe to eat! I'd LOVE to see you do a painting of some 'shrooms, that would be awesome!

I love mushrooms and am always excited to find them and take pics of them. I like the fourth photo. The colors grabbed me.
