Hide and seek with a chipmunk

We have lots of great places in our "yard" for chipmunks to romp about and make their homes. One of those places is under the rocks that are at the base of our birdbath. Me and Chip played hide and seek this weekend!

Lady, I really don't think I like you being so close to me. Go 'way.

You can't possibly see me in between these rocks!

Oops! You're still there. I said Go 'Way!

Staking out the hidey-hole...

... and my patience pays off!

Not-so-secret tunnel... ENHANCE!

Very cute photos of the Chippy!! I love these little guys! I have one that eats out of my hand.

Michele - He is pretty adorable, isn't he?

Shelley - I love them too. And girl, I think you could get any wild animal to eat out of your hand! Will you give me some tips when we visit in July?

Heather...this is a crazy cute post. I love chipmunks, and I love the way you've presented this hide-and-seek series.
(I'm coming to Ohio University in July!! I think that's your neck of the woods, right?? I'm going to stay a week while Matty is in a tennis camp. Finally, I'll get to bird Hocking Hills.)

Love these pictures! We have a couple in our yard also. I call one Alvin and have been trying to train him to come for nuts when I call. So far, he is training me to bring him nuts

Lazyclick - Thank you, and thanks for stopping by!

Kelly - Hee hee, we have lots of cuteness living in our woods! Hopefully you'll get to see some of it when you come to Athens!

Warren and Lisa - I've never tried training them to come in for food. They're pretty shy when I get too close. Our squirrels would be the more likely candidate for hand-feeding. That's funny that your Alvin has got YOU trained!

I have a chippetymunk that's dug a hole right next to the air conditioner. I see it sometimes in the perennial bed or on the deck stealing birdseed. They're so darn cute! Your close-ups are great Heather.

Ruthie - Luckily our little chippers don't steal birdseed. They pick through whatever has fallen to the ground, but they don't come up on the deck to get it. We've got quite a population of chipmunks running around here - I've seen as many as 4 at one time, and I wouldn't be surprise if there are more of them!
