What do these images look like to you?

Looks almost like an elephant's foot...LOL But I have no idea what it really is.

I was actually going to say legs of an elephant too! In actuality, worm burrows on tree bark or something of that sort?

oh good, I'm not crazy either because I thought of an elephant's leg and foot too!

Ladies, you're all on the same track as me. I think it looks just like an elephant leg/foot, too. I'll reveal the true identity in a few days. Remember, the title is "flora imitates fauna"...

On the animal side, my first thought was also elephant's foot. This should worry you four, because having a mind that works like mine could mean trouble.

On the plant side, it might be a piece of firewood set on end. Or, since it's on a paving block, it could be supporting something else. I see another piece of cut wood in the background, so I'm thinking firewood again. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Steve - You are a clever and perceptive observer. As to how your mind works, mine works in some pretty strange ways, too, as should be evident from time to time on this blog. So have no fear, I do just fine on my own in the arena of warped thinking!

Well I'm either unimaginative or I've been a naturalist too long because my first thought was simply, "It looks like bark beetle galleries!" I'm getting the elephant thing too though.

Kirk, you and Steve both took the literal interpretation of this photo, which tickles me. Glad you "saw" the elephant foot, too!
